The project is funded by EU's seventh framework program and conducted by UNEP/Wuppertal Institute Collaboration Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP), Regional Environmental Centre (REC) and Centre for Sustainable Design (CfSD). The overall objective of the project is to identify research needs and design elements of deliberative processes on sustainable consumption and production (SCP) in the high-impact demand areas food, housing and mobility.
The project consists of an opening and a closing seminar and a three-part workshop series. The workshop series brings civil society organizations (CSOs) together with research organisations and governments to explore the state of the art of SCP. A wide range of CSOs from all European countries are invited to participate in the platform. All three workshops are divided into three parallel groups, each focusing on one of the focus areas. In the first workshop participants will identify and discuss patterns and sustainability impacts in the demand areas food, housing and mobility and explore the 'state of the art' in each need area. The second workshop is dedicated to identifying and discussing issues in the areas of finance, technology, policy instruments, capacity building and education and behavioural change as factors limiting or enabling SCP. In the third workshop conclusions will be discussed for the future research agenda, for the implementation of processes, programmes and action plans.
Between these face-to-face meetings CSOs can interact with other CSOs and stakeholders, give continuous feedback and influence the seminar and workshop outlines via the (upcoming) internet-based discussion forum on this website.
